    Recipe Perks

Healthy: Packed with protein, healthy fats, good carbs and naturally sweeteners so that you don’t spike and crash your blood sugars before bed.

Allergy-friendly: All of the bedtime snacks are dairy-free and gluten-free with many having paleo options as well.

Indulgent: You won’t find boring flavors here, these bedtime snacks focus on chocolate, sweets, and other big craving hits.

    Protein Sources

All of the protein recipes use either collagen powder for women  or protein powder (learn the difference between collagen and protein).

Collagen powder is a protein. It is mostly found in bones, skin, connective tissues, and meat. It can be made from any animal but is mostly made from cows, chicken, and fish. Though not a complete protein, it’s amazing for healing your gut, improving hair, skin, and nails, and is great for adding more protein to your diet. Check out these foods high in collagen to work more in.

Vegan protein powder is what’s used for protein desserts. Know that each protein powder is unique in how it’s flavored and how it mixes with other ingredients. Learn more about choosing a vegan protein powder. Vegan protein powder cannot be subbed 1:1 for whey protein so you’ll need to adjust a bit if that’s what you use. My favorite brands for these recipes are Naked Nutrition Protein (least ingredients), Transformation Protein (most dessert-like taste), and Botanica Protein (overall best of both worlds).

    FAQs

Is protein a good late-night snack?

If you’re going to eat later into the night, choosing protein is going to give you the best bang for your buck. Not only does it take more effort to digest but it also keeps you full longer, so you won’t continue to snack and jack up your calories. Plus, in the long run, eating a higher protein diet will help you build muscle and burn more fat.

What can I eat for protein before bed?

Something simple like Greek yogurt and protein powder to make a protein pudding is great before bed. Add in some nut butter for a healthy fat and it’s an ideal bedtime snack.
