Spa DIY Gifts For Self Care
Christmas time might just be my favorite time of the year. Really and truly I love the hype of getting excited for it! And while the day itself is always fun, I love the lead up to Christmas the most- traditions (like Santa cookies and reindeer treats!), excitement, planning and of course, food! I also enjoy treating all of my friends to diy gifts geared towards self care- it’s simple, thoughtful and truly unique.
Christmas spirit to me is the best thing in the world and it begins December first. I love putting up the tree, making sugar cookies, watching the snow fall and every other silly little Holiday thing you can think of- oh, and hot chocolate. I’d die without hot chocolate.
And while I adore Christmas in itself, I also really and truly love gift giving. And for the last few years that means making a ton of diy gifts!
I’ve long since learned that The Holidays are much more about the thought, the spirit and the excitement than what I wake up to Christmas Day – which truthfully is all about the kids now anyways! Which is why diy gifts are perfect.
When it comes to neighbors, teachers, service people and friends I adore giving something thoughtful! Not only does it save me money (you can’t get a twenty dollar Tims card for everyone!) but I love that they know I was thinking about them and took the time to truly make something unique.
It sounds so silly, but homemade spa-like gifts show you care- really! It’s not often we do a whole lot for ourselves, so giving your friends something they never splurge on for themselves is always thoughtful (though being a hippie I also enjoy zero waste gifts too!).
I love mixing and matching these diy gifts into little bundles, baskets or simply pairing them with cookies– because who doesn’t love cookies?
Chocolate Peppermint Lip Chap
This is easily my favorite lip chap of life and I always have some on hand. I especially like it this time of year because it keeps your lips super hydrated and peppermint just goes with the season ?
Have a friend who loves working out? This silky lotion rub is perfect for sore muscles! It’s easy to make and gives your muscles that “tingling” feeling when applied. As a fitness junkie, I love it. You can also check out some more fitness favorites here.
I just recently fell in love with these and no I can’t stop making them! These little scrubs are a bit of a power house in the sense that they’re individually portioned, they exfoliate and the keep your skin soft and moisturized. They’re a super simple but awesome addition to a spa package.
DIY Peppermint Foot Lotion
Christmas time also means that I am pretty obsessed with peppermint! Not only does it fit the Holiday season but it actually works wonders at keeping you alert, calm and repairing your skin!
This homemade whipped foot lotion is idea for anyone who is on their feet all day and needs a bit of love.
Just about every female I know could use some lotion! This diy grapefruit body butter is uplifting but also extremely hydrating. It contains healthy, nourishing ingredients and makes your skin feel super silky. Perfect after a long soak.
And if you’re feeling fancy, there’s also this homemade baby lotion too! This one is perfect for new or expecting mamas as it’s geared towards relaxation.- perfect for a baby before bed!
Honey Body Butter
This butter is thicker than most but also has a lot of healing properties from the honey. It’s an easy diy to make and it smells great. This one is perfect for people with super dry skin on their legs because you really have to massage it in.
You cannot go wrong with bath bombs! These Sleepy Time Bombs are one of my favorites but there are so many different scents you can use to make them!

Homemade scrubs are another great option to give your friends a little bit of pampering. They can be made with sugar, coffee or salt though I personally love sugar scrubs. This is one of my favorites because it suits the Christmas season so well and sugar is soft on your skin. I also enjoy rocking face masks when it comes to keeping skin healthy and smooth. Here’s a fun chocolate strawberry mask which always makes me think of Valentines Day!
I also love this pretty in pink scrub variation specifically for your lips!
Homemade bath salts can be as easy as adding scent to some epsom salts and they’re great diy gifts! They’re extremely easy and cost effective to make but they’re also nice to give out as gifts. Make them unique if you can for each person on your list to really show you know them (like making this bath confetti for kids! Who am I kidding, it’s for me :P)
With so many homemade, diy options for gifts it’s easy to whip up something for everyone. Christmas time isn’t about spending lots of money but the thought you put into other people to show you care. Take a couple of these and make a basket or a bundle and you’ve got an extremely well thought out and unique gift for your friends.
