Note: I am not a doctor, herbalist, aromatherapist or chemist. I am just an everyday mom trying to figure out how to live naturally. This recipe is one that works for myself and my family. Please consult your doctor before using any diy recipe or essential oils to confirm that they are safe for you. This holds especially important if you are currently pregnant.

DIY Spa Gifts Perfect For Self Care: Homemade Gift Ideas

Use these DIY spa gifts to show you care! These homemade gift ideas are perfect for other moms who need a bit of self-care. These DIY gift ideas are a great way to save money and avoid long lines during the Holiday season. In addition, all the DIY spa gifts are simple and can be made with minimal ingredients!

diy self care gifts

There is something so unique about giving a gift you’ve made yourself. I love receiving them and I love giving them! While I also adore crunchy mama gifts and I’m a chronic tea lover, A DIY spa gift is simply sweet.

Why You Should Rock DIY Spa Gifts

I’ve long since learned that The Holidays are much more about the thought, the spirit, and the excitement than what I wake up to Christmas Day – which truthfully is all about the kids now anyways! Which is why homemade gift ideas are perfect.

  • They show you care
  • You can customize them
  • They save you money
  • You can make them in bulk

Who Are These Homemade Gifts For?

Obviously you know your list best. However, I’ve found that these DIY spa gifts are amazing for:

  • neighbors
  • teachers
  • service people
  • close friends

Not only do DIY spa gifts save me money (you can’t get a twenty dollar Tims card for everyone!) but I love that they know I was thinking about them and took the time to truly make something unique.

It sounds so silly, but homemade spa-like gifts show you care- really! It’s not often we do a whole lot for ourselves, so giving your friends something they never splurge on for themselves is always thoughtful (though being a hippie I also enjoy zero waste gifts too!).

Self-Care 101: Natural Is Best

When it comes to self-care products, natural really is best. While everyone you’re giving your gifts to may not care about reducing toxic load or chemicals on their body, the fact that you do is important.

Additives in our self-care products can change our hormones and cause some pretty, not fun body issues. It was when I was struggling to get pregnant with my first babe that I decide to make the switch to homemade, natural products.

No Time To DIY?

On the other side, if you want to give your friends a natural, insanely thoughtful gift but are not the best DIY-er (or your a busy AF mom and don’t have time!) check out the products from Primally Pure.

In the same way, they’re super luxurious, contain only basic ingredients and I use them all the time (especially the deodorant haha). Use code mamabear10 at checkout and you’ll save 10% on your first order too! You can read more about why I love them as well as my favorite products for under $100!

DIY Spa Gifts – Self Care Based

If you’re going to make your own self-care DIY gifts remember this: mix and match! There is nothing more awesome than a little spa basket made with your favorite items.

Or, pair your spa gifts with cookies– because who doesn’t love cookies?

Most of the homemade gift ideas below can be portioned into multiple DIY spa gifts. So make batches of your favorite, pair them off, and have everyone love you!

Chocolate Peppermint Lip Chap

This is easily my favorite lip chap of life and I always have some on hand. Likewise, I like it this time of year because it keeps your lips super hydrated and peppermint just goes with the season?

Learn how to make the chocolate peppermint lip chap. It truly is an amazing one to have on hand though I do also like this Citrus one too!

I find lip chaps insanely easy to make (but I’ve had some practice haha). If you don’t want to make them, grab the creamsicle one from Primally Pure. Lip chaps are only like four bucks so super cost-effective

Homemade Muscle Rub

Have a friend who loves working out? DIY muscle rub is perfect for sore muscles! It’s easy to make and gives your muscles that “tingling” feeling when applied. Furthermore, as a fitness junkie, I love it. You can also check out some more fitness gift ideas.

DIY Spa Gifts -Sugar Scrubs

I just recently fell in love with these and no I can’t stop making them! These little scrubs are a powerhouse in the sense that they’re individually portioned, they exfoliate and they keep your skin soft and moisturized. Similarly, they’re a super simple but awesome addition to any DIY gifts basket..

Three homemade sugar scrubs around a larger sugar scrub with the ingredients to make sugar scrubs behind them

DIY Whipped Peppermint Foot Lotion

Christmas time also means that I am pretty obsessed with peppermint! This foot lotion fits in with the Holiday season and works wonders at keeping you alert, calm, and repairing your skin!

This homemade whipped foot lotion is ideal for anyone who is on their feet all day and needs a bit of love. It contains magnesium powder which helps induce calm. Calm through your mind but also your bodily systems. It takes the “fight or flight” down a notch.

Homemade Body Butter

Just about every female I know could use some lotion! This DIY citrus body butter with coconut oil is uplifting and extremely hydrating. It contains healthy, nourishing ingredients and makes your skin feel super silky. Perfect after a long soak.

DIy vanilla body butter in a white bowl with vanilla bean around it and shea butter behind it

And if you’re feeling fancy, there’s also this homemade baby lotion too! This one is perfect for new or expecting mamas as it’s geared towards relaxation.- perfect for a baby before bed!

Whipped Honey Body Butter

Honey body butter is thicker than most but also has a lot of healing properties from the honey. It’s an easy DIY to make and it smells great. This one is perfect for people with super dry skin on their legs because you really have to massage it in.

DIY Spa Gifts: Homemade Bath Bombs

You cannot go wrong with bath bombs! These Sleepy Time Bombs are one of my favorites and there are so many different scents you can use to make them!

Learn more about how and why to make bath bombs and then jump into your favorites! Everyone loves them and they’re beyond simple ingredient-wise so they make a great gift. Here are a few other fun scent options:

Mini relaxing bath bombs
Headache remedy bombs
Stress relief bath bombs

Shimmery Pink, Heart Shaped Bombs

Fyi, bath bomb molds make your life a lot easier!

Scrubs For DIY Spa Gifts

Homemade scrubs are another great option to give your friends a little bit of pampering. They can be made with sugar, coffee, or salt though I personally love sugar scrubs.

This candy cane scrub is one of my favorites because it suits the Christmas season so well and sugar is soft on your skin. I also enjoy rocking face masks when it comes to keeping skin healthy and smooth. Here’s a fun chocolate strawberry mask which always makes me think of Valentine’s Day!

I also love this pretty in pink scrub variation specifically for your lips! Because.. well mainly because it’s pink haha.

Bath Salts

Homemade bath salts can be as easy as adding scent to some Epsom salts and they’re great DIY gifts! Furthermore, they’re extremely easy and cost-effective to make. They’re also nice to give out as gifts. Make them unique if you can for each person on your list to really show you know them (like making this bath confetti for kids! Who am I kidding, it’s for me :P)

Not sure where to buy the ingredients for the homemade gift ideas? Not to worry, I remember being in those shoes too! Which is why I gathered all of my go-to products, ingredients, and favorite brands for DIY beauty products in one place 😉

Don’t forget to pin these DIY Spa Gifts For Self Care!

In fact, Christmas time isn’t about spending lots of money but the thought you put into other people to show you care. Take a couple of DIY spa gifts and make a basket or a bundle and you’ve got an extremely well thought out and unique gift for your friends.

These easy, homemade gift ideas are perfect for friends, neighbors, and the service people in your life. They’re cost-effective, easy to make, and really show you care about the individual. Use these DIY spa gifts to show your friends and family you were thinking of them during the holidays without spending a fortune
