An ice cream-like green avocado smoothie bowl worth getting out of bed for! This smoothie breakfast bowl uses peaches and bananas to make it thick, creamy, and indulgent. Plus, it's whole30-approved!
Naturally sweet, energizing, and the perfect way to kick off your day.

Green smoothies are an easy way to pack in a bunch of nutrients in a vibrant, fueling way- especially on the go (though tropical things like a papaya smoothie bowl is great too).
And while bowls don’t lend themselves well as on-the-go meals, they can be made even more indulgent! This green smoothie bowl is indulgently thick, sweet, and can be customized to your liking with toppings.
Though it’s an easy way to fuel up, I personally enjoy smoothie bowls “all done up” on special occasions like Mother’s Day or over Christmas when I’m a bit too “heavy” from indulging.
Top the avocado smoothie bowl with your favorite crunchy granola, some fresh & bright berries, and watch your mood lift... without coffee!
Ingredients You Need
Frozen fruit: this avocado smoothie bowl uses frozen bananas and peaches to not only achieve its creamy texture but sweeten the bowl naturally.
Avocado: avocado is one way to get the BEST texture in a smoothie bowl as well as add in a dose of healthy fats (and plant-based protein!).
Spinach: no green smoothie bowl would be complete without the green! Using frozen spinach leaves will make the greens blend into the smoothie flawlessly.
Homemade hemp milk: ensure the creaminess of the smoothie breakfast bowl by using homemade hemp milk. This is a great way to also eliminate carcinogenic oils in your diet also (learn more about why this is important!). However, most plant-based milk will work.
Collagen powder: an easy way to boost the protein intake of the smoothie bowl while still maintaining its whole30 approval. While this isn’t a necessary ingredient, protein is the best way to kick off the morning.
Texture Of The Bowl
Nobody wants a thin, runny smoothie bowl! Thus, this whole30 smoothie recipe is thick, creamy, and much more like my blackberry banana nice cream.
This is thanks to frozen fruit like bananas, peaches, and avocado.
All of these ingredients when used in a smoothie helps make it creamy (learn more about how to build the BEST smoothies & bowls).
However, adding in some coconut milk would up the creamy factor as well as give another burst of fats.
Keeping The Avocado Smoothie Bowl Whole30 Approved
The base of this avocado smoothie bowl is completely compliant with whole30 (learn more about whole30 approved foods).
However, if using store-bought milk, ensure it doesn't contain carageen or any sugars. This is one of the reasons homemade is often better!
You’ll also have to pay attention when you’re topping your smoothie bowl. I top mine with homemade granola or even extra coconut milk (coconut cream from the can actually).
However, most of my granola recipes contain oats which are not allowed on whole30 (the exception is this grain-free, protein granola!).
Keep in mind as well that peanut butter is also not whole30 approved- use another nut 😉
How To Make The Green Smoothie Bowl
Making this green smoothie bowl is as easy as 1-2-3!
- Combine everything into a high-powered blender.
- Blend until combined. You may need a tamper to press down the ingredients.
- Once combined, topped with your favorite toppings!
Choosing Collagen Powder
It’s no surprise that this green protein smoothie bowl is made with collagen powder!
All the protein without the bloat.
I use collagen powder for amping up protein and boosting gut health.
Learn about the difference between collagen and bone broth as how to increase protein intake.
Honestly, as a busy mom collagen powder just makes it easy to eat more protein and not feel like I’m living off chicken and eggs.
And more protein means more energy, more natural beauty, and feeling your BEST.
Plus, in recipes like this, you can sneak protein into your kids as it’s one of the purest sources.
I grab my collagen from Perfect Supplements because they source their collagen from pasture-raised (grass-fed) cows. So, I trust it.
Grab some collagen powder and use code mamabear10 to save some money.

Topping Your Green Smoothie Bowl
Toppings are my favorite part of green smoothies! I personally love adding crunch to my smoothies but many people adore fresh fruit too.
A few of our favorites are:
- crunchy cinnamon granola
- whichever nuts we have on hand (almonds, pecans, walnuts etc)
- seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, chia)
- hemp seeds
- drizzled coconut milk
- nut butter (almond hazelnut is the best!)
- fresh fruit
- coconut flakes
- 2-minute easy coconut whip cream
By mixing and matching toppings, it makes it so that each green smoothie bowl is different... and all of them are delicious.

Important Tips To Make The Avocado Smoothie Bowl
- The mixture is extremely thick. This means you’ll probably need a tamper when you’re blending it.
- Remember, add more water or milk sparingly as you’ll ruin the texture with too much.
- When possible, use frozen spinach leaves (not the mushed, carton package though!). frozen spinach blends better than fresh because it crystalizes. Thus, you won't have any spinach flakes in your smoothie bowl.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Avocado Smoothie Bowl
When made with a combination of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats, smoothie bowls are a healthy meal replacement. However, it’s easy to turn them into a high-calorie snack with toppings. If you want to use smoothie bowls for weight loss, scale back on the nuts and seeds on top.
Smoothies are normally drunk through a straw while smoothie bowls are eaten in a bowl with a spoon. Often, smoothie bowls have a thicker consistency as well and seem more indulgent.
Adding avocado to your smoothies gives them a burst of healthy fats which can make the smoothie feel more satiating. Likewise, avocados are a healthy way to make the smoothie (or smoothie bowl) more creamy and thick.
Because the avocado is exposed to oxygen, it will eventually turn brown, even in a smoothie bowl. However, if you're making and enjoying the smoothie bowl within 12 hours, it's unlikely it will turn brown.
