Indulge in this ultra-creamy, strawberry pineapple smoothie! Free from bananas and protein powder, this tropical smoothie recipe is refreshing and bursting with flavor.

Use it as a fueling snack or summertime cool don. Topped with two-minute coconut whip cream, it makes an indulgent snack!

This strawberry pineapple smoothie recipe is a great burst of fresh flavor on a warm day! it's easy, refreshing, and deliciously cool- just like these low calorie mocktails.

As a Certified Nutrition Coach, I love that it's made with whole30 approved ingredients, but it comes out both creamy and fueling. And though you can easily make it more of a post-workout protein shake, however, it's delicious as is.

And, thanks to the color it's also a hit with kids!

    Ingrdients You'll Need

There are 11 grams of plant-based protein in this delicious strawberry pineapple smoothie. Which makes it a wonderful snack.

Traditional tropical smoothies will use orange juice to keep them sweet. This smoothie however takes a different approach!

Frozen Pineapple: frozen pineapple will result in a thicker smoothie but fresh pineapple will work.

Frozen Strawberries: fresh or frozen strawberries will work and are responsible for the pop of color in the smoothie. If you have extra, make this strawberry walnut salad for lunch too and stay super fresh in the warm weather!

Hemp hearts: a nutrient-dense little seed loaded with healthy fats and plant-based protein.

Almond butter: any nut butter will work but be sure to use fresh nut butter versus the hardened stuff so that it blends smooth.

Hemp milk: I like to use homemade hemp milk for this smoothie but any non-dairy milk will work. Cashew milk will make it especially creamy.

    Sneaking Veggies Into The Smoothie

Smoothies are a great way to sneak extra veggies into your kid’s diet in a fun, tasty way (learn more about how to hide vegetables so kids will eat them).

This strawberry pineapple smoothie recipe however is vegetable-free.

That said if you wish to boost the nutrient value of the smoothie, add in some carrot! This way the color of the smoothie will remain a pink-orange hue which will help entice kids.

    Make It A Post-Workout Shake

This strawberry pineapple smoothie recipe is protein powder-free. It uses a combo of plant-based proteins (flax + almond butter + hemp hearts) to balance out the sugars in the fruit.

However, if you’re looking to use this healthy smoothie as a post-workout shake, you can easily add in some vegan protein powder.

Since plant-based proteins absorb liquid, know that you may need to add some extra liquid to the smoothie or use a tamper to blend it.

Lastly, remember that using protein powder will make it so that this strawberry pineapple smoothie recipe is no longer whole30.

    Collagen Powder

Another protein option is to use collagen powder!

Collagen is a beneficial part of bone broth and is wonderful for your hair, skin, and nails. Learn more about collagen and why you may want to boost your intake. However, unlike bone broth, it doesn’t taste like well, bone broth.

Similarly, collagen powder is odorless and flavorless. Plus, if ethically sourced one of the purest forms of protein you can give to your kids! I grab my collagen from Perfect Supplements and while I love their big tub of powder, I love the individual packets even more!

Grab some collagen powder and use code mamabear10 to save some money.

Keep in mind that using collagen powder will void the “vegan” part of it.

    Important Teaching Tips

The smoothie is best consumed right after blending. Storing in the fridge will make it separate.

Frozen strawberries will result in a thicker smoothie and you may need to use a tamper when blending or add more liquid. It's what will make this such a wicked summer recipe.

Coconut whip is optional- but delicious! You can also top it with homemade granola.

Frozen fruit will make the pineapple smoothie thicker and more indulgent feeling. Much more like a "nice cream" or smoothie bowl.

Adding in some dairy-free vanilla yogurt will make the smoothie creamy as well. You can also add in some vegan Greek Yogurt for a bit of protein.

Frequently Asked Questions About Strawberry Pineapple Smoothie

What Are The Healthiest Fruits To Put In A Smoothie?

There is no "best fruit" for a smoothie. However, tropical fruits like mango and pineapple as well as berries give smoothies a refreshing feel.

How do you make a smoothie thicker?

There are a few ways to make smoothies thicker or creamier. While adding more ice and reducing the liquid in the smoothie will make the smoothie thicker, it won’t make it creamy. To make it creamy use banana, avocado, coconut milk, or mango.

Can I make the strawberry pineapple smoothie ahead of time?

While you can make the smoothie ahead of time, know that it won't be as creamy. Storing the smoothie in the fridge will thin it out a bit and cause it to separate slightly. Shake it before you enjoy it.
