Use these DIY bath bombs for headaches to help relieve stress and reduce tension. This DIY bath bomb recipe uses all-natural ingredients and a specific blend of essential oils to get headache relief naturally.

An easy DIY recipe to bring a little bit of fizz and some relief to your bath.

Bath bombs are a simple and easy homemade way to both relax and ease tension throughout the entire body.

Bath bombs are something I failed miserably at once upon a time but you can read more about how to make them (and what not to do!) here.

Since most of our days are spent chasing little ones, working like a crazy person, or just generally running around, it's nice to relax with a bath and ease some tension at the end of the day- if you can!

And these DIY bath bombs for headaches are a great way to ease tension.

The truth is, homemade bath bombs make amazing DIY gifts for Christmas, birthdays, and any appreciation day- because there are so many ways to make them!

And while these homemade bath bombs smell delicious, they actually serve a purpose as a natural headache remedy too.

    How To Relieve Headaches Naturally

If you suffer from headaches you'll know how uncomfortable they can get. Whether there is an underlying cause or just built-up tension, headaches can play havoc on your day.

While each headache is different, here are a few things you can try to help ease the tension:

    • a dark room
    • a cool cloth on your neck or eyes
    • no screens
    • magnesium (most people use magnesium to reduce headache frequency I grab mine from Perfect Supplements in which they have capsules as well as powdered magnesium for smoothies, tea or yogurt)

The bath bombs for headaches use essential oils to not only promote relaxation but they also act as a natural headache remedy as well.

    Essential Oils For Headaches

These homemade bath bombs for headaches use a special blend of essential oils to ease tension.

Lavender essential oil is one of my most favorite go-to oils for calming, relaxing, and fixing (like in this DIY face mask). It's a healing oil made to help soothe the body through both topical application and inhalation.

Peppermint, on the other hand, is a stimulating essential oil meant to perk you up, create clearer thoughts, and boost energy. But it's also been used for pain relief, to alleviate sore muscles, and more specifically- as a natural headache remedy. In fact, many headache balms use peppermint essential oil to rub on the temples to help provide relief.

These two essential oils both keep the homemade bath bombs simple but effective which is perfect for any DIY project.  You can check out and grab my favorite essential oils from my Amazon Store.

Lastly, the preferred base of my bath bombs is Epsom salts and baking soda. This combo has been shown to help detox the body and ease sore muscles- which makes them a great additive into your bath bombs!

A Few Notes On How To Make Bath Bombs

One quick thing to note though is that I like to use a tiny bit of oil in my bombs. This makes my skin feel nice and silky when getting out of the bath (so much so that I don't even need to add my all-time favorite lotion!). But it also means that the bath is a little bit slippery so be careful! Having oil in the bathbombs is what allows the essential oils to bind.

When it comes to essential oils for baths, I choose to use a dilution rate of 10 drops of essential oils to 1 tablespoon of carrier oil. This is roughly a 5% dilution rate (this website states you can use up to 20 drops per tablespoon). So while this would be alright for adults, it's not something I'd recommend for kids.

When it comes to coloring the bath bombs- it's optional! You can use anywhere from ⅛-1/2 teaspoon of mica powder keeping in mind that the more you use the more saturated the water will be with color. Mica powder does leave a ring in the tub. Personally, when I make them for myself I omit the mica powder because I hate having to clean the tub after 😉

    How To Make Them

In a large bowl combine all dry ingredients and mix well. Make sure there are no clumps.

Diy, homemade, handmade, bath bombs, headache, tension, relief, natural, holistic, peppermint, lavender, gift,

In a small glass bowl, combine the almond oil, essential oils and witch hazel. Whisk.

Pour the liquid mixture into the large bowl, it will fizz once the liquid touches it.

Diy, homemade, handmade, bath bombs, headache, tension, relief, natural, holistic, peppermint, lavender, gift,

Begin mixing using a fork (or your hands) until everything looks combined and somewhat moist.

Prep your silicone molds and use a spoon to fill the molds halfway. Using a silicone spatula, press the mixture into the molds firmly. Spray each mold with a small bit of water (one spray) and press down again to make sure they're firm.

Diy, homemade, handmade, bath bombs, headache, tension, relief, natural, holistic, peppermint, lavender, gift,

Using too much water will cause the bombs to lose their fizz. If you don't press down firmly, the bombs will not hold together.

Divide the rest of the mixture into the molds and again press down firmly. Spray the top with water and press down again.

Diy, homemade, handmade, bath bombs, headache, tension, relief, natural, holistic, peppermint, lavender, gift,

Let sit on the counter for twenty-four hours to set before removing from molds.

    Makes 9 cupcake style bombs.

Note: from the mica powder and the almond oil these bombs will leave your bath a bit slippery- so take caution when getting out!

Tip: use anywhere from ⅛-1/2 teaspoon of mica powder keeping in mind that the more you use the more saturated the water will be with color. Mica powder does leave a ring in the tub. You can also omit the mica powder altogether and save the cleanup.

Oh I love bath bombs like this. I recently made some shower melts for the first time and was so surprised at how easy they were to make.

I need to try and do this. I always grab ibuprofen and I would much rather do natural remedies.
