Ready to kick back this weekend but don’t want to whip out the booze?

This ginger beer mocktail is the perfect solution to the nights you want a festive drink but without the alcohol. Learn the difference between cocktails versus mocktails.

Made with a blend of ingredients designed to tickle your tongue, this healthy mocktail is whipped up in just five minutes.

As a Certified Nutrition Coach who loves a traditional Moscow Mule, this ginger beer mocktail is definitely one of my favorites for the nights I don’t want to drink (along with this kombucha mocktail!)

Healthy made with whole food ingredients for maximum flavor

Easy whips up in about five minutes

Refreshing perfect to sip on poolside

    Ingredients You’ll Need

Ginger beer: ginger beer is a naturally, non-alcoholic drink with a strong spicy flavor. My favorite brand is fever tree but there are a few other delicious ones.

Fresh pineapple: many mocktails opt for sugar-filled juices. However, I prefer to use the real thing. The pineapple is a great way to cut the intensity of the flavor while giving it a bit of sweetness. In a pinch though you could definitely use pineapple juice instead. You may want to skip the honey though.

Fresh lime juice: a traditional Moscow Mule has both ginger beer and lime because they pair so well together. So, I didn’t want to leave that out. You could also use something lemon lime simple syrup if you like sweet.

Honey: a natural sweetener and perfect for balancing out the tart flavors of lime and ginger. Maple syrup will work in its place but it will change the flavor of the pineapple ginger beer mocktail.

Mint: totally optional but mint is naturally refreshing so a great addition or garnish. Though so is something like lavender syrup.

If you love a regular Moscow mule you'll love this cranberry Moscow mule!

    How To Make The Mocktail

    1. In a food processor combine the fresh pineapple, honey, half of the lime juice, and mint together. Strain the pulp out with a mesh strainer.
    2. Fill two glasses with ice. Divide the juice from the blender into the glasses.
    3. Add in the remaining freshly squeezed lime juice and ginger beer.
    4. Top it with fresh mint and enjoy!

    Important Teaching Tips

Of course you can use pineapple juice for the ginger beer mocktail recipe. However, if you do that you may want to omit the honey as the juice will be sweet enough.

Fresh lime juice gives a better flavor than store-bought, pre-squeezed lime juice.

You don't need to strain the pineapple juice mixture. Technically, you can add it right into the glass. However, some people don't love "texture" or chunks in their mocktails.

You cannot use ginger ale in place of ginger beer for this recipe. You'll lose the spicy ginger flavor.

Frequently Asked Questions About Ginger Beer Mocktails

    Does ginger beer have alcohol?

Despite what the name suggests, ginger beer is actually a non-alcoholic drink.

Can I drink this mocktail while pregnant?

Because the ginger beer mocktail doesn’t contain alcohol, it is safe during pregnancy. However, ginger beer tends to be a bit fiery and very fizzy. If you’re having heartburn or indigestion, this may not be the best mocktail to opt for.

Can you make this mocktail ahead of time?

This ginger beer mocktail tastes best fresh. If made in advance, the mocktail will lose its fizz.

Is ginger beer the same thing as ginger ale?

While they're similar in the sense they're both flavored with ginger, they're not the same. Ginger beer is typically made with fresh ginger root, fermented, and has a spicy flavor. Ginger ale is more of a carbonated beverage and it often uses a sweetened ginger simple syrup in place of real ginger.
