Why You'll Love Them
Easy to make: Measure, mix, pour, and bake. These brownies come together really easily (though not as easy as a mug brownie).
Delicious: They're thick, fudgy, and the best possible way to kick a craving.
High in protein: Each square of brownie comes with 10 grams of protein which makes this dessert tasty and fueling.

Ingredients You’ll Need
Bananas: this helps to keep the brownies sweet while giving them a fudgy texture.
Almond butter: all nut butter can be used, the creamier the better! Cashew butter is one of our favorites in place of almond. Make sure to use fresh nut butter and not the hardened part at the bottom of the jar.
Vegan chocolate protein powder: the protein powder you choose will affect the taste and flavor of the flourless brownies (just like this 2-bite protein brownies recipe) as all protein powder absorbs differently (learn more about how to choose a protein powder).
Cacao powder: giving a bit of extra chocolate to the protein brownies! Though cocoa powder can be used in its place, using cacao comes with a host of other benefits.
Mini chocolate chips: make sure to opt for mini ones so that the chocolate-fudge-like pockets are frequently delivered throughout the batter.
How To Make Banana Protein Brownies
Important Teaching Tips
Keep in mind that the batter for these protein brownies is thicker than a normal pour-based brownie mix. You won’t be pouring it into the pan so much as scraping.
This also means you need to use a spatula to press it into the bottom and even it out.
Make sure the chocolate protein brownies are completely cooled before slicing.
Any nut butter can replace the almond butter (creamy peanut butter is wonderful!)
If you want the brownies to be even fudgier, remove them from the oven when they’re finished cooking. This makes it so that they still have that “undercooked”, fudge-like feel almost like this half-baked vegan mug brownie.
Cocoa powder can be used in place of cacao and will result in the brownies being ever so slightly sweeter.
How To Store Them
The banana protein brownies can be stored on the counter in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
However, they'll last longer if stored in the fridge. Let them cool fully before placing them in an airtight container. In the fridge, they should last 10-14 days.
To enjoy them, let them sit at room temperature before. Straight out of the fridge they tend to be more dense and chewy.
Choosing A Protein Powder
In place of flour, these gluten-free brownies use protein powder!
That said, the brand you choose will affect both the taste and the texture of the brownies. This is why I use Genuine Health’s Fermented Vegan Protein Powder. It helps fuel your goals, recover, and stay full.
Made with 20 grams of plant-based protein, this vegan protein powder is dairy-free, gluten-free, non-GMO, and certified organic. However, know that it absorbs a TON of liquid because it's fermented.
If you're using a different protein powder, you may need to scale back on the liquids slightly or cook the chocolate brownies for longer. Learn more about how to choose a protein powder.
Frequently Asked Questions About Flourless Brownies
Skip the flour and still indulge in rich, easy brownies! Instead, use flour alternatives like coconut flour, almond flour, chocolate protein powder, oat flour, or quinoa flour to make your gluten-free brownie recipe. Know that each flour will react differently and not all flours (for example almond flour) will bind a batter.
Most brownies do not need to be stored in the fridge. However, they will last longer if chilled. That said, brownies that are stored in the fridge tend to become denser and need to soften at room temperature prior to eating.
You cannot use chocolate whey protein powder for these brownies as vegan protein powder absorbs differently than whey protein.

Jamie
I love how these brownies turned out. They are moist, fudgy and dense. But I couldn't get my husband to eat them because he's not a big fan of protein powder. You mentioned that I could also use quinoa flour. Will it affect the texture?
fitasamamabear
My hubby won't touch them either lol If you use quinoa flour in these in place of the protein it may not absorb as much so not sure how they'd end up texture wise.
