Refreshing, creamy, and made with only 6 ingredients. This avocado mango smoothie is made without banana but packed full of energy. With tropical bursts of orange and mango but made creamy from avocado, it's a burst of sunshine with every sip.

Though smoothies aren't the only way to gain a bulk of nutrients at once, they sure are easy which makes them perfect for busy moms. Learn more about how to make a balanced smoothie.

As a Certified Nutrition Coach, this avocado mango smoothie is one of my favorites because it's so refreshing but also balanced. You can sneak an extra vegetable into your day and not even know it.

Couple that with a boost of energy and it's the perfect breakfast or quick snack.

    Why You'll Love The Smoothie

EASY to make: the energy smoothie comes together with just 6 ingredients.

Allergy-friendly: this smoothie is naturally dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegan but can be made paleo and whole30 with one small tweak.

Ultra creamy: thanks to both the frozen mango and avocado this green smoothie comes out thick and creamy.

Protein packed: with 22 grams of protein per serving this smoothie gives you energy but actually keeps you full too.

    Ingredients You Need

Frozen mango: this is one of the secret ingredients that makes the smoothie creamy and thick. Make sure to use frozen mangos preferably in chunks to make sure they blend more easily. Fresh mango will work but the smoothie will be thinner.

Orange juice: don't rush out to the grocery store, squeeze the juice from an overripe orange on the counter to maximize flavor.

Avocados: the other reason this energy smoothie is thick and also has a great dose of healthy fats. Avocados are one of the three foods crucial for toddlers.

Vegan protein powder: the kind of protein powder you choose will affect the taste and texture of the mango avocado smoothie. Learn more about choosing a protein powder for your goals.

Dairy-free milk: I use homemade hemp milk the most but any non-dairy milk will work. Learn more about the best dairy-free swaps.

How To Make The Mango Avocado Smoothie

Half an orange sitting beside a measuring cup of fresh orange juice
Step 1: Squeeze some fresh orange juice.
Avocado, frozen mango, and protein powder all in a blender
Step 2: Add all ingredients into a blender.
Almond milk being poured into a blender with avocados, ice, and mango
Step 3: Pour the almond milk over top of the ingredients and blend.

Step 4: Divide the mango avocado smoothie into a glass and enjoy.

    Expert Tips

To help your blender out, add the liquid ingredients first.

Frozen spinach blends smoother than fresh spinach but both will work.

Pea protein powder will absorb more liquid and make the mango avocado smoothie thick. Whereas a coconut or blended protein like Orgain will give a sweeter taste but not absorb as much.

To make this energy smoothie paleo and whole30-approved, sub in collagen powder for protein powder. You may wish to add a date to the mix to counter any flavor differences as collagen powder is flavorless.

Frequently Asked Questions About Energy Smoothies

    What makes a smoothie creamy?

There are more ways to make a smoothie creamy than a banana! Coconut milk, frozen mango, and avocado are all great options.

Are spinach and fruit smoothies good for you?

Green smoothies can be part of any healthy diet. In fact, because they come together so quickly and are great to run out the door with, they make an ideal snack for busy lifestyles. The key is to make sure that you choose healthy smoothies loaded with protein and some healthy fats versus smoothies that are all fruit or sugar-based.

    Can you taste the spinach?

No! Once the mango avocado smoothie is blended, it has a tropical, creamy flavor and texture. If you don't have a high-powered blender, try freezing your spinach leaves first. This makes it so that they crystalize and blend easier than fresh leaves.

Can you make a mango avocado smoothie ahead of time?

You can make your energy smoothies ahead of time but it will alter the texture. If stored in the fridge, the mixture will separate slightly and become thinner. To avoid this, try portioning the green smoothie ingredients into a plastic baggie to make for faster completion times.

I tried blending in some fresh spinach and I couldn't even taste it! That's a sneaky way to add some extra greens to my morning routine! Yummy, healthy, what more could I ask for?

Squeezed in some extra orange juice for a tangier taste and it balanced out the sweetness of the mango perfectly. So refreshing!

I love anything mango! This was super creamy and filling, I'm always hesitant to add spinach to my smoothies but this one was great, the orange mango flavor really hit the spot.

That is a beautiful smoothie and sounds really tasty! I would sub the spinach for baby kale though...kidney stones put me on a strict no spinach diet 🙁

Ah no spinach?! I would die lol though baby kale is super yummy! I'd freeze the kale before blending it so it blends a bit smoother!
