Yogurt granola cups are a cute, grab-and-go snack that look impressive but take almost no effort, and the toppings are totally customizable. I brought a tray of them to a kids’ birthday party and they disappeared faster than my homemade protein granola, which is saying something. They make an easy addition to brunch alongside baked oats without banana or pumpkin protein muffins if you’re feeding a crowd.
Even though this granola cup recipe tastes indulgent, it's secretly packed with healthy ingredients and naturally sweetened with maple syrup. Kids can grab one on their way out the door, I love enjoying them with a protein latte mid-morning. Make a batch for the week… but prepare to run out early.

💭Why You'll Love This Recipe
Easy to customize: Though yogurt and granola is always a hit, there are a few ways to change the flavor and indulgence of the granola cups to make them seem like something new each time.
Healthy: The recipe is naturally dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegetarian, so wonderful for dietary restrictions.
Well-balanced: Packed with healthy fats, fiber, and flavor.
Ingredients and Substitutions

If you have well-stocked gluten-free pantry staples, you probably already have all the ingredients you need for this granola cups recipe (and these granola clusters!)!
- Sunflower seeds: Make sure to use unsalted seeds that haven’t been roasted already.
- Oats: Double-check that they’re gluten-free if needed, and know that rolled oats work better than quick oats for this recipe.
- Dried fruit: Any dried fruit will work; however, we love to use dried blueberries and cherries best.
- Dairy-free yogurt: You can use any yogurt you like. We tend to use cashew or coconut yogurt, but dairy-free Greek Yogurt will give more protein to the yogurt cups (learn more about the best dairy-free swaps).
See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.
Flavor Variations
Peanut butter chocolate: For an indulgent twist, fill the granola cups with peanut butter swirled into the yogurt and top them with chocolate chips.
Extra fruity: Use a fruit-based yogurt to fill the cups and top them with fresh berries.
Indulgent: Top each cup with coconut milk caramel sauce.
If you really want to have fun: make the breakfast granola cups, top them with yogurt (Greek yogurt is great too) and set up stations of fresh fruit, chocolate chips, and peanut butter. then, let kiddos "make" their own!
How To Make Granola Cups With Yogurt

Step 1: In a mini food processor, process the cashews and coconut together.

Step 2: In a small bowl, add the cashew mixture, seeds, oats, and dried berries before adding the liquid ingredients.

Step 3: Mix well and then portion the granola mixture into your mold and use a silicone spoon to press the granola down into the mold.

Step 4: Bake the granola cups and let them cool fully.

Step 5: Evenly top them with a dollop of yogurt.

Step 6: Pop a berry on top and serve!
Expert Tips
When you process the cashews, you want there to be a bit of texture, but little, tiny cashew chunks. Too big chunks and you’ll find that the granola cups won’t hold together.
The cups are soft coming out of the oven. Make sure to let them cool fully for thirty minutes before trying to pop them out of the molds.
The muffin cups or mold you choose may alter the baking times slightly. I opted for a small, bite-size mold for our yogurt cups.
It's easier to use a silicone muffin tin lined with silicone muffin cups than it is to use cooking spray on a regular muffin tin.
When pressing the mixture into the molds, press firmly. You want there to be a slight divot in the middle of the cup. It doesn’t need to come up all the way to the sides, but the better you press down the more they stay together.
Make sure to pop the breakfast granola cups out of each muffin cup before topping with yogurt. Otherwise, it's a mess.
Storing Them
You can make these ahead of time and store them in the fridge for up to 3 days. If you plan to store them, do not top them with yogurt until you're ready to serve.
Granola cups, when not topped with yogurt, also store well in the freezer. To keep them intact, leave them in the molds and place the whole mold in a freezer-safe bag. Store them for up to 2 months and let them thaw in the fridge overnight before topping them.
Granola Cups With Yogurt FAQs
The granola cups themselves can be frozen so long as they don’t get smushed. However, once topped with yogurt, they’re best stored in an airtight container in the fridge.
Because the oats are not fully cooked in liquid, it’s best to use regular oats for the granola cups.
Essentially, to make yogurt granola cups, you want to make homemade granola and press the mixture into a silicone mold before baking. Once caked and cooled, remove the cups from the mold and top them with yogurt.
Yogurt with granola is a healthy choice for breakfast or a snack. Make sure to choose a high-protein yogurt to keep you full and granola that's not too high in sugar but loaded with nuts and seeds for healthy fats.

These look delicious!! Do you think it would be possible to make them without the coconut flakes?
fitasamamabear says
I feel you could probably double up on the sunflower seeds instead but you'd want a sweeter yogurt as coconut helps the granola part stay tasty 🙂
Angela says
I used dried cherries in these & oh boy, fantastic. Definitely good point on making sure the cashews are in bitty pieces so these hold up.
fitasamamabear says
Woof, dried cherries would be amazing! And yes, I went wrong the first *cough 3* batches because the cashews were far too chunky lol
