    Oven Baked Bacon Wrapped Steak Bites

    Tender, juicy, steak folded into savory crispy bacon. These bacon wrapped steak bites are the perfect meal prep recipe. Made with only three ingredients and cooked to perfection, steak bites make for an easy app or a pop-in-your-mouth bite of protein!

    They’re easy to make for absolutely everyone and they work as both an appetizer or part of a larger meal (these air fryer steak bites are a house favorite).

    Ingredients You Need

    Steak: any steak will work for these bites. Personally, we do a lot of sirloin because it’s easy.

    Bacon: steak bites wrapped in bacon work best with a thin slice of bacon. If you have a thicker cut, your cooking times might vary. The same applies for something like bacon-wrapped water chestnuts.

    Balsamic reduction: truthfully this isn’t crucial to making bacon steak bites. But you won’t deny that it adds some deliciously tangy flavor.

    How To Make Them

    1. Cut the bacon slices into thirds using scissors.
    2. Chop the steak into beef cubes.
    3. Tightly wrap each piece of bacon around a piece of steak and secure it with a toothpick.
    4. Place them all on a parchment paper-lined baking tray.
    5. Drizzle the balsamic reduction over them.
    6. Bake at 435F for 12 minutes or until the bacon is almost crispy.
    7. Turn the oven off and let them sit for a few minutes for the bacon to crisp up.

    Important Tips To Make Them Perfect

    You may need to cook the bites longer if your bacon is thick. It's a lot easier if you use thin bacon.

    Don’t overlook letting the bacon wrapped steak bites sit in the oven after it's off. I find that the longer they sit, the crispier they are. However, you don't want them to sit too much that the steak gets tough.

    You don’t totally need the balsamic reduction, salt and pepper or any steak seasoning will do. However, I love the flavor it brings out in the steak.

    Make sure to cover the baking tray fully with parchment paper so that grease doesn’t leak out from the bacon.

    Hack: for ultra-crispy bacon, I have definitely pre-cooked the bacon for 5-10 minutes, let it cool, and then wrapped each steak bite. It's an extra step but the bacon ends up so much crispier.

    Which Steak Is Best

    Just about any cut of beef will work for these bacon wrapped steak bites. Boneless steaks are naturally easier but you can definitely get a bone in steak and cut around it.

    Normally we use:

    • Sirloin
    • Striploin
    • Skirt steak
    • Beef tenderloin

    Know that you can use filet mignon as well. Filet mignon results in extra tender pieces of bacon wrapped steak so save it for when you're trying to impress guests!

    How To Make Them In Advance

    As an appetizer, these steak bites are wicked because you can prep them in advance of when you need them.

    To do this, get the bacon wrapped and secured around the steak. Place them on a baking sheet and wrap the sheet in plastic wrap (alternative you can pop them into an airtight container too). Store them in the fridge for 12-24 hours.

    When you need them, drizzle the balsamic dressing over them if you're using it and bake them as per the instructions.

    How To Serve Them

    How you serve your bacon wrapped steak bites is dependent on what you need them for!

    • As an appetizer or snack, they work best served on a platter with a dipping sauce (we use bbq sauce the most).
    • For a meal prep recipe, they’re perfect paired with a quinoa and veggie salad or roasted root vegetables.
    • That said, the steak bites are delicious when tossed into a pasta with dairy-free Alfredo sauce too.

    How To Store Leftovers

    If you have leftovers, pop them into the fridge in an airtight container. They'll last about three days.

    Reheat them in a pan with some oil or in the oven at 350F. If reheated in the oven, know that they may not crisp up as much as they will on the stove.

    How do you know when bacon wrapped steak bites are cooked?

    Because the steak is in bite-sized pieces, it cooks pretty quickly. Judge its doneness based on the bacon which should have turned from pink to light brown or darker. The edges of the bacon should be starting to crisp too.

    How long do bacon wrapped steak bites last in the fridge?

    When stored in an airtight container, bacon-wrapped steak bites will last 3-4 days. Though you can eat them chilled, they taste best quickly reheated in the oven, stovetop or in the air fryer.

    Ingredients
      

    • 1 lb Bacon
    • 2 tablespoon Balsamic vinegar or 3 tbs balsamic reduction
    • 0.6 kg Boneless cross-rib steak

    Instructions
     

    • Preheat the oven to 425F
    • Cut the bacon into thirds using scissors.

      I actually don't care too much either way if the bacon is super crisp or not so I usually skip pre-cooking the bacon. But I absolutely love the balsamic reduction so I never skip that part! I've been trying to keep low carb lately and this recipe has really helped keep my meals satisfying yet simple to make.
