These kimchi deviled eggs are loaded with gut-boosting elements, flavor, and fire. The kimchi gives the hard boiled eggs a unique twist while also adding new flavors to a classic appetizer.
Most deviled eggs are loaded with dijon mustard, hot sauce, and miracle whip. You'll find none of that here. But you will experience a whole lot of flavor!
You’ll fall in love with these kimchi deviled eggs because they're:
- simple to make
- The eggs can be as spicy as you like
- Dairy-free, gluten-free, keto, paleo, and whole30 approved
- Kimchi is great for your gut
- No hidden seed oils in the mayo
- Everyone loves a twist on a classic
Ingredients You Need
Hard boiled eggs: you'll need boiled eggs for the recipe and you want them to be cooled before peeling them.
Paleo mayonnaise: opt for mayonnaise from Primal Kitchen. This mayo is made with avocado oil but loses none of its flavors from the traditional version. As a Certified Nutrition Coach, I'm always on the hunt for healthy swaps of classics... and this is a house staple! It's also whole30 approved of course.
Spice blend: you need a blend of smoked paprika, garlic, salt, and cayenne pepper for these whole30 deviled eggs. The ratios may change slightly depending on how fiery you want them!
Kimchi: kimchi is a combination of vegetables and spices that have been fermented. Each jar is unique and flavorful. So the kind of kimchi you choose will affect the flavors of the deviled egg recipe.

How To Make Whole30 Deviled Eggs
Making these spicy deviled eggs is simple! All you need to do is:
Boil: boil the eggs, cool them, and peel them
Scoop: carefully slice the hard boiled eggs in half lengthwise and scoop the yellows out of the inside and into a bowl
Mix: mix together all of the filling ingredients until mostly smooth
Portion: place the deviled egg filling back into the egg halves to finish off
Of course, you can garnish the whole30 deviled eggs further by tapping them with extra kimchi or sprinkled paprika but it’s not necessary!

How The Spicy Deviled Eggs Are Gut Healthy
Though traditional recipes use regular mayonnaise which contains seed oils like canola or sunflower, this recipe uses paleo mayonnaise instead (also whole30 approved).
Paleo mayo uses avocado oil in place of canola oil as a healthier alternative.
Likewise, hard boiled eggs themselves make a healthy snack because of their high protein content. Not only does protein help boost the immune system but it keeps you full (so you’re not snacking mindlessly) as well.
Lastly, this recipe differs as well because it contains a secret ingredient: kimchi!
Kimchi is a Korean dish made of fermented vegetables (normally a mix of cabbage, carrots, and radish).
Fermented foods are wonderful for gut health and thus the immune system. Plus, it adds a kick of flavor to the whole30 deviled eggs.
If you're a fan of the classic mustard flavor, adding in some of these pickled mustard seeds would be a tasty addition too.
Substitutions
If you want to cut the oil out completely, you can also use Greek Yogurt.
However, this will adjust the texture of the yolk mixture, making it slightly thicker. The kind of yogurt you purchase will vary too as some are thicker than others.
Make sure to use a Greek Yogurt (plain tends to be too watery) and grab a plain one, not flavored.
Regular paprika is listed in the ingredients for the spicy deviled eggs but smoked paprika would pair wonderfully.
This recipe uses the spices from the kimchi to give it its tangy flavor. Thus, the kind of kimchi you purchase will affect the taste.
I recommend finding a kimchi local to your area as it will be much more flavorful. However, most big chain grocery stores (even Costco!) will have some in stock.
The spicier the kimchi the spicier the whole30 deviled eggs!

How To Store Them
The spicy deviled eggs need to be stored in the fridge until served. Ideally, you want to use a container-specific to deviled eggs when you store them.
This prevents the eggs from sliding all over the place and creating a ginormous mess.
In the fridge the eggs will last 2-3 days once made, so long as they’re not in and out of the fridge a bunch of times.
Important Teaching Tips
- Make sure to chop the kimchi finely so that it blends into the filling well.
- Because of the kimchi in the recipe, you cannot pipe the filling onto the hard boiled eggs.
- Use your best judgment on the amount of cayenne pepper to use. Taste test a bit before adding the filling to the boiled eggs. Add more cayenne pepper if you like spice.
- The kind and brand of kimchi you purchase will affect the flavor of the eggs.
- You can use Greek Yogurt in place of the paleo mayonnaise, but it will make the filling thicker. Likewise, you’ll want to add a bit more of the spices.

I gave the protein bars to a friend of mine with a gluten allergy; I usually can't give her the food I make so I saved these for her. She absolutely loved them, she said most of the protein bars she eats are way too dry but these were great! - Stephanie

Frequently Asked Questions About Whole30 Deviled Eggs
Spicy deviled eggs can be part of a healthy diet because they're so high in protein. However, the mayonnaise and other ingredients you add to the yolk mixture will impact their health benefits.
Deviled eggs are best when they’ve had a chance to sit in the fridge for an hour or two before serving. This allows the flavors to infuse and the texture of the filling to settle. Make whole30 deviled eggs up to twenty-four hours ahead of when you’d like to serve them.
