    💭Why You'll Love This Recipe

Fast protein-packed dinner: These steak bites in the air fryer are made with minimal ingredients and just 20 minutes so you can get dinner on the table QUICK.

Versatile: They work in wraps, over rice, as a salad topper or just a quick appetizer like these gluten-free chicken wings.

    Ingredients and Substitutions

Raw steak, soy sauce, spices, and oil in bowls with text labels over top.
    • Steak: I personally use flank steak as it's cost-effective (though I use sirloin steak for these teriyaki steak bites). You want to cut the flank steak into bite-sized cubes so that it cooks quickly in the air fryer. Of course, if you want a full steak dinner, whip up these air fryer New York strip steaks and save the sirloin for the bites.
    • Oil: IUse avocado oil because it has a high heat point in the air fryer without any lingering flavor.
    • Soy sauce: Make sure to use gluten-free soy sauce if needed. To make this steak bites recipe Whole30 or paleo-approved, opt for coconut aminos instead. This works for slow cooker steak bites, too.

See the recipe card for full information on ingredients and quantities.

    Flavor Variations

    • Teriyaki: Skip the spices and marinate the air fryer steak cubes in my gluten-free teriyaki sauce recipe instead.
    • Soy sauce variations: If you need the steak bites to be Whole30 or paleo-approved, opt for coconut aminos. If you're sensitive to salt, choose low-sodium soy sauce.
    • Spice: Add some red pepper flakes to the seasonings to kick the heat up a notch.

How To Make Air Fryer Steak Bites With Soy Sauce

Raw steak chunks in a plastic baggie.

Step 1: Pour olive oil, and soy sauce into a plastic bag. Add the spices and stir. Put the steak pieces in the bag and mix everything.

Raw steak chunks in an air fryer.

Step 2: Let sit for 5-7 minutes to marinate (or longer). Transfer the steak bites to the air fryer basket and fry for 7 minutes.

Cooked steak bites in an air fryer on a cutting board.

Step 3: Mix and cook for another 3 minutes.

    Expert Tips To Make It

Though the flank steak will look cooked after seven minutes, keep it in the air fryer and cook for an additional three.

Any neutral oil will work, but avocado oil has a high heat point. This is true for something like salt and pepper shrimp in the air fryer and air fryer frozen tilapia, too, both of which can make tasty apps.

How to keep them juicy: Make sure that the steak tips are cut into 1-inch cubes so that they're all similar sizes. Don't overcrowd the air fryer basket; work in batches instead of needed. Of course, don't overcook them.

Temperature guide: If you prefer your steak bites a certain way, grab a meat thermometer and use these guidelines:

    • Rare: 125°F
    • Medium-rare: 130–135°F
    • Medium: 140–145°F
    • Medium-well: 150°F+
      (Rest 3 minutes.)

Storing: Once cooled, store leftover bites in the fridge for 3-5 days. Reheat them in the air fryer for a few minutes until warmed through.

    How To Serve Them

The best part about juicy air fryer steak bites is that they’re delicious all on their own or as part of a bigger spread, like these air fryer salmon bites. They're wonderful paired with some more air fryer snack desserts, too.

    Serving them for dinner:

If you’re making these steak bites for dinner, we serve them mostly with something like smashed fingerling potatoes or even just a boiled carrots recipe and rice. Learning how to caramelize onions is great, too. However, any of the following works too:

    • Steamed rice
    • Gluten-free sweet potato casserole
    • Herbed cauliflower rice
    • Roasted gluten-free root veggies
    • Steamed broccoli

    Serving them as an appetizer:

If you’re using the steak bites as a game day appetizer, serve them sprinkled with garlic powder and BBQ sauce or Primal Kitchens Ranch Dressing to dip then use them in a spread with:

    • Green hummus
    • Kimchi deviled eggs
    • Spicy chicken bites

Basically, any other air fryer Super Bowl recipes can be used.

    Air Fryer Steak Bites FAQs

What kind of steak is best for air fryer steak bites?

Though any cut of steak will technically work, top sirloin steak tends to create the most tender air fryer steak bites.

How long do you cook steak bites in the air fryer?

If your steak cubes are cut into 1-inch chunks and the air fryer is preheated to 380F, then you'll want to cook your steak bites for 7-10 minutes.

Why are my steak bites tough or chewy?

Steak bites can become tough or chewy when they're overcooked or cut too small. Make sure to cut the cubes into 1-inch pieces and fry them in a single layer to ensure they don't dry out.

    Equipment

    • 1 Air Fryer

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup flank steak cut into bite-sized cubes
    • 2 tablespoon olive oil
    • 2 tablespoon soy sauce
    • ⅓ teaspoon granulated garlic garlic powder works as well
    • ⅓ teaspoon cumin
    • ⅓ teaspoon coriander

    Instructions

    • Preheat the air fryer to 380F (5 minutes). Pour olive oil, and soy sauce into the bag, and add spices. Stir.
    • Put the steak pieces in the bag and mix everything. Leave on for 5-7 minutes (or longer).
    • Transfer the steak pieces to the air fryer basket and fry for 7 minutes.
    • After 7 minutes, the steak looks ready, however, you need to mix it and cook for another 3 minutes.
    • After 3 minutes, the air fryer steak bites can be transferred to a plate and served.

    Notes

Though the flank steak will look cooked after seven minutes, keep it in the air fryer and cook for an additional three.
Make sure that your steak bites are in a single layer in the air fryer. If you have too many, work in batches. This will help to keep them juicy but cooked.
Cut the steak into roughly 1-inch cubes; any smaller and they'll cook too quickly and dry out.
