Plus, they're just so much healthier than deep-fried chicken wings.

As a Certified Nutrition Coach, I love that they’re made with simple ingredients and that they’re an easy protein boost!

Gluten-free chicken wings are underrated as a way to increase your protein intake.

These honey garlic wings are the perfect recipe for any occasion.

    • Great flavor blend of sweet, sticky, and sprinkled with lime
    • Perfect as an appetizer for game day or as part of a busy weeknight dinner

    Ingredients You’ll Need

Chicken wings: These gluten-free chicken wings are the perfect way to use up wings that you get on sale. Stock up at the grocery store next time you see a buy one, get one free. Fun fact: these pickle chicken wings are gluten-free too if you want a funky flavor!

Seasonings: You’ll need ground cumin, sea salt, chili powder, and ground pepper. and garlic powder for a flavor no one can refuse. Make sure all herbs and spices are gluten-free as needed.

Lime juice gives a tangy twist to the sweet flavor.

Hone: You want honey that’s drippy and not solid. This way it mixes in with the seasonings.

Oil: Any neutral-based oil will work, though I use avocado oil the most because it has a high heat point.

Fresh cilantro: This is totally optional and can be omitted if you dislike the taste. However, it does give a unique Mexican flavor to the gluten-free chicken wings.

    Expert Tips and Substitutions

You can easily omit the cilantro if you don’t love the flavor, it does come out potent.

A grill pan is easiest for gluten-free chicken wings as the ridges help remove any grease dripping as well as leave beautiful marks on the wings themselves. Of course, these air fryer chicken wings are a great way to do them up too.

However, if you don’t have one, you can cook these honey garlic wings on a BBQ or make oven baked chicken wings on a cooling rack over a baking sheet.

To cook them in the oven bake them for 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. You want the wings to reach 165F with no pink inside.

Store the gluten-free chicken wings in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Reheat them in the oven or on the grill until warmed through. This takes roughly 15 minutes at 350F.

    How To Make Them

    1. Add the chicken wings to a large plastic baggie.
    2. Add in the remaining ingredients.
    3. Toss the wings around in the bag a bit before marinating for two hours.
    4. Preheat your grill pan and cook the chicken wings for 8-10 minutes, turning them occasionally.
    5. Remove once cooked and garnish with more lime and chopped cilantro.

What To Serve With Gluten-Free Chicken Wings

The best part about this honey wings recipe is that they’re delicious all on their own or as part of a bigger spread just like these air fryer buffalo wings. They pair well with something like a Trader Joe's charcuterie board or roasted tomatillo salsa on Game Day too.

They taste delicious with hot sauce, ranch, or blue cheese dressing to dip. personally, I just make them to have an easy, high-protein snack on hand. Learn more about the benefits of a high protein diet and why you want to amp it up!

Frequently Asked Questions About Gluten-Free Chicken Wings

What is the best cooking method for honey garlic chicken wings?

Chicken wings can be cooked in a variety of ways including the oven and the grill. However, one of the fastest and easiest ways is with a grill pan. Not only does a grill pan remove the grease and drippings as the chicken wings cook but it also gives them beautiful-looking grill marks.. in half the time.

Can I use boneless wings instead of chicken wings?

Boneless wings are pieces of breast meat that have been cut into the shape of a chicken wing. While they can be tasty, they won’t hold together on a grill as chicken wings will.
