Intermittent fasting for weight loss is a great tool for women to have in their belts! While there are a variety of methods, learn the benefits, what to eat and how to lose weight with intermittent fasting.

    Grab the transcript.

    Intermittent Fasting Weight Loss

Join me and my personal mentor Graeme Thomas as we chat about how to use intermittent fasting for weight loss!

As coaches, we've used intermittent fasting with figure competitors, endurance athletes, medical professionals, and everyday parents and in this episode, we're sharing our tips with you.

    What Is Intermittent Fasting?

At its very core, intermittent fasting is a way of eating in which you cycle long periods of not eating with shorter periods of an eating window.

The most popular pattern is 16:8. This means that you fast for sixteen hours and eat for a window of eight hours.

Fasting doesn’t specify which foods you eat or restrict, it is simply based on when you consume nutrients.

How You Can Lose Weight With Fasting

Intermittent fasting is in essence a way to control calories.

By having a shorter window to take in your nutrients, most people find they eat less.

On top of that, not eating for a longer duration of time allows your body time to use the food you HAVE taken in (instead of storing it).

Over time, this leads to weight loss.

Which Intermittent Fasting Is BEST For Weight Loss?

As mentioned, there are a lot of ways to use fasting with the 16:8 method being the most popular.

The best way to use fasting for weight loss is to find a system that you’ll stick to!

If that means one to two 20-24 hour fasts each week then do that. If it means a daily fast of 16-18 hours, perfect!

Once you get the basics down, experiment with what feels best for you, your lifestyle, and your goals.

    Intermittent Fasting For Women

While fasting has benefits for both genders, intermittent fasting has a few unique benefits for women:

    • It can help women bust through when fat loss plateaus especially as we age
    • Can aid in reducing hot flashes and menopause-related weight gain
    • Can help regulate hormones by giving the body time to rest

What To Eat During Intermittent Fasting

Fasting doesn’t restrict or specify what you can eat.

However, if the goal is fat loss it is helpful to not binge on donuts during your feeding window.

It’s important to keep nutrient intake high so make it a priority to focus on:

    • High protein
    • Quality fats
    • Veggies

    Common Struggles When Fasting

Give the podcast a listen to hear more but if you’re new to fasting there are some common struggles.

It takes a few weeks to get used to fasting so don’t be discouraged.

    • Wanting to eat EVERYTHING during your feeding window
    • Lack of focus
    • Minor headache
