Breakfast
Consuming quality, healthy breakfasts helps to start your day off right! But boring meals are no fun. Instead opt for nutritious, tasty & healthy breakfast options!
In my world, there are two kinds of healthy breakfast: those that are super speedy, make-ahead options, and the others that are a little bit more slow-going and perfect for lazier mornings.
However, all of the breakfast recipes have one thing in common: they’re healthy!
Having a healthy breakfast is necessary for both moms and kids to start the day. Breakfast should:
- Be loaded with nutrient-dense ingredients
- Be fueling (load up on protein)
- Provide energy
Starting the day off with sugar-based or overly carbohydrate breakfast recipes will only provide a lack of focus and sugar crash.
These healthy breakfasts are:
Dairy-free
Gluten-free
Nutrient-dense
They range from quick make-ahead options (like chia pudding, overnight oats and yes, pancakes!) to breakfast more suitable for weekends (crepes, more pancakes, stuffed apples etc).
Since mornings tend to be a tighter spot for a time, we use a lot of make-ahead or grab and go options. Smoothies and healthy morning glory muffins are great healthy breakfasts to run out the door with. Chia pudding and overnight oats are indulgent but since they’re made ahead of time they’re a fast option in the morning.
And since all kids love pancakes, there are quite a few options for those too! We absolutely love high protein yogurt pancakes as well as paleo chocolate pancakes.
Health breakfasts don’t have to be boring or bland. Focus on nutrients, fuel, and flavor and kick your breakfast up a notch!
