Improve your gut health and save time in the kitchen by using powdered bone broth! Ever popular and with a unique set of benefits, bone broth has long been consumed to promote healing. Previously though, it required a few hours of work to make, or a few extra dollars to purchase pre-made.
Now, you get the best of both worlds! Learn more about bone broth powder and why it should be part of your diet.
What is Bone Broth?
Bone broth is the leftover liquid that remains from boiling bones, cartilage, and tissue.
It contains protein, collagen, electrolytes, and basic hydration needs.
Basically, the broth is a gut-improving, all-natural, nutrient powerhouse.
What Is Bone Broth Powder?
Powdered broth (when done correctly) is simply broth that has been dehydrated and made into powder.
That said, since the purpose of consuming broth is often health-oriented and immune-boosting, quality matters.
Many companies will add additives to their bone broth powder to make it taste better, last longer, and stretch further.
Before buying any bone broths, make sure to peep the ingredients. Adding extra msg or flavor additives greatly defeats the purpose.
Benefits of Bone Broth Powder
Some days as a Certified Nutrition Coach, I question whether there is anything bone broth can’t do!

- Improved digestion
- Helps nutrient absorption
- Contains a lot of amino acids that help in everything from kidney function to gut health
- Boosted immune system
- Reduce inflammation
- Can support joint health by strengthening bones
- Some people refer to it as “anti-aging”

Where To Buy The Best Bone Broth Powder
As I mentioned, make sure to find a quality chicken bone broth powder! Scour ingredients and don’t settle for any additives. Or, pick up a jug of my favorite bone broth powder!
I personally recommend Perfect Supplements Bone Broth Powder because it’s just that: dehydrated bone broth!
Their bone broth powder:
- Is made from organic free-range chickens (they don't offer beef bone broth yet)
- It’s unflavored
- It contains no added spices or preservatives
- Contains Type I, II, and III Collagen
- Contains all 9 Essential Amino Acids
- Contains 19 Amino Acids
- Msg, carbs, sugar, dairy, gluten, and soy-free
- No pesticides
- No gums, filler, flow agents.
- Just bone broth and all its goodness.
Plus, it’s the only broth powder I’ve found that goes fluffy when blended into this gut healing smoothie.
And though I realize this seems completely weird, this smoothie is what helps me get something completely healing into my kiddos. It’s my go-to whenever anyone is sick.

Chicken Or Beef Bone Broth
Any bone broth protein is going to be great. And when it comes to homemade, I make both chicken and beef bone broth (this instant pot turkey bone broth is amazing also).
However, in powder form, I stick to chicken. This isn't to say that beef bone isn't great, just that the company I trust the most only offers chicken bone broth.
Bone Broth Protein Powder
With the influx of bone broth powders, bone broth protein powders have also made their way onto the market.
Some of these companies simply label their powdered chicken bone broth as "protein" while others actually add things to it.
Most of them are not made with beef bone broth but chicken as it's an easier flavor.
Personally, my goal when consuming bone broth powders is to keep it as minimal as possible. This means that if the bone broth protein powder contains additives like "flavor", "stevia", or "xantham gum" I avoid it. I use regular protein powder for that (learn how to choose a protein powder for your goals!).
If you want to reap the benefits of grass-fed bone broth, stick to beef bone broth or chicken in liquid or powdered form as is. No extra ingredients.
How To Use Bone Broth Powder
There are so many ways you can consume bone broth powder.
The simplest of course is whisking some of the powder into boiling water to create an actual broth which can be used for
- Homemade soup
- To boil rice
- Chili or stew
Keep in mind that Perfect Supplements doesn’t add any flavoring. This means that on its own this bone broth isn’t “soup delicious”.
Add some of your favorite spices (like these amazing ones from Selefina) to your broth to help with the flavor.
Another way to use the powder is as I mentioned above, with a crazy, bone broth, gut-healing smoothie I came up with.
Lastly, bone broth powder can be used in any of the ways you typically use bone broth. The only difference is that you need to mix it into water first.
The perk though is that you don’t need to spend 8 hours in the kitchen making bone broth only to have it sit in the fridge and go bad because you didn’t make soup 😉

Frequently Asked Questions About Bone Broth Powder
Bone broth powder is as good as fresh only when there are no other ingredients or additives added in the dehydrating process. Anything added decreases its quality.
Bone broth comes with a host of benefits like improved digestion, helps nutrient absorption, contains a lot of amino acids which helps in everything from kidney function to gut health, boosts the immune system, and can support joint health by strengthening bones. Some people even refer to is as “anti-aging”.
Bone broth is one of three foods I believe every toddler should have in their diet. Not only is it a pure source of protein but its great for boosting their immune system long term.
Though they have many of the same benefits, bone broth and collagen are not exactly the same. Bone broth has more all-around nutrients and contains collagen. However, collagen has more protein concentration.
On it’s own, bone broth powder doesn’t taste great. Think very bland but concentrated chicken. However, this taste means that nothing has been added to the powder to “enhance” it which means it’s better for you. It’s easy to add your own flavor and spices to bone broth when you make it.
You can add anything you like to bone broth powder buy typically I season mine with salt, pepper, and some garlic powder to taste.

I had no idea that I could get bone broth in powdered form. This is game changing information for me. I love using bone broth in soups and stews, but it's so hard to find ones without additives and I never collect enough bones, on my own, to make enough to keep on hand. As always, you've provided some extremely valuable information and I appreciate it so much. Thank you!

So happy I gave you the idea! Honestly it just makes it easier to have the powdered stuff on hand, we use so much it's not practical to make homemade all the time.

I have been buying a bone broth glue for quite some time. It is sort of a thick paste that you mix with water. But I spotted your article on Pinterest and thought I would have a read. I didn't realise there was so many added ingredients in my brand. I will be looking into buying a powder next time.
I use it for cooking rice and pasta all the time!
fitasamamabear
Ahh! Glad I could give you an alternative. We use so much that I can't make it all the time so the powder makes it easier, I know you'll love it!
