This carrot mango turmeric smoothie is a tasty, creamy, immune-boosting recipe! The perfect blend of sweet and tart, and made with anti-inflammatory ingredients like fresh turmeric.

This healthy smoothie makes a delicious breakfast or snack!

Mango carrot turmeric smoothie in a clear glass with a yellow bowl of parsley, orange straws and sliced turmeric around/behind it.

A tasty breakfast option or pick-me-up snack. This mango turmeric smoothie comes out bright in color and gives a burst of energy.

Creamy and made with healing ingredients, this smoothie is anti-inflammatory, contains no added sugars, and is a natural energy boost thanks to the benefits of turmeric (though check out these protein shakes for energy).

Plus, there are some sneaky hidden veggies in it which is always a perk (here are some more tasty, hidden vegetable recipes).

    Why You'll Love This Recipe

    • Dairy-free, gluten-free, paleo, and whole30-approved
    • Easy to make
    • Refreshing
    • Loaded with nutrients

    Ingredients You'll Need

Frozen mango: frozen mango is what helps this smoothie come out thick and creamy (learn more about how to build smoothies). Fresh mango will not work the same.

Psst. If you love mangos you'll love this 2 ingredient mango ice cream!

Carrot: adding a dose of "sunrise" to the smoothie and a sneaky veggie!

Turmeric root: fresh turmeric root is best for this smoothie as its anti inflammatory properties are more potent (learn about the benefits of turmeric as well as ways to maximize turmeric absorption). But dried will work in a pinch.

Collagen powder: balancing all the healthy fuel with a bit of super clean protein.

Coconut milk: make sure to use the coconut milk from a can for the best source of fats.

Apple: another fruit in the smoothie to help it naturally sweeten.

Fresh parsley: this is optional but gives the smoothie just one more notch on its health benefits.

Note that fresh ginger isn't in the turmeric smoothie recipe. However, because fresh ginger is such a potent way to boost the immune system (or soothe a sore throat in the case of these homemade cough drops!) if you have some on hand it's a great addition. It also work swell in these ginger and turmeric shots for boosting the immune system.

How Is This Smoothie Good For Your Gut?

This whole30 smoothie contains more than turmeric to boost the immune system! It also contains collagen.

Collagen is a beneficial part of bone broth and helps heal and seal your gut. Moreover, it contains essential amino acids to boost your immune system.

Learn more about collagen and why you may want to boost your intake.

Furthermore, collagen powder is odorless and flavorless. Plus, if ethically sourced one of the purest forms of protein you can give to your kids!

    Texture Of The Smoothie

This anti-inflammatory smoothie comes out creamy but not too thick. Thanks to the frozen mango this is not a watery smoothie.

Mango when frozen blends similarly to banana. Thus, you’ll end up with a thick, creamy smoothie.

    Important Teaching Tips

If you want a brighter-colored smoothie, omit the parsley. This will make the smoothie come out bright orange.

You may need to use a tamper to blend the smoothie depending on your blender.

Due to the overpowering taste of turmeric, a little goes a long way!

This turmeric smoothie uses one small root that’s pretty potent. If you’re not used to consuming turmeric, you may want to halve that to start.

Similarly, when it comes to using the powder, begin with ½ a teaspoon. You can scale up from there but it is an acquired taste.

In place of the hemp milk, feel free to add coconut water for an extra boost of electrolytes.

If adding in fresh ginger, opt for a ¼ inch (peeled). If using ground ginger, go with ¼ teaspoon.

Frequently Asked Questions About The Mango Turmeric Smoothie Recipe

Can you put raw turmeric in smoothies?

Yes! Raw (or fresh) turmeric retains all of its amazing health benefits.
While it does have a slightly bitter taste, it can be eaten fresh. Moreover, fresh turmeric works best in smoothies, curries (like this peach curry), and cough remedies like fire cider. However, if you don’t have raw turmeric on hand, the dried powder works as well. You can learn more about the differences of fresh versus dried as well as how to use each one here.

What fruit goes well with turmeric?

Whether using the fresh or the dried version of turmeric, it will have a bit of a bitter taste. Thus, the sweeter the fruit, the better it will mask the flavor.
Fruits like; mango pineapple, banana, and orange.
The fruits above all pair well with turmeric as it helps keep the recipe sweet. However, you could also use a natural sweetener like honey to mask the flavor slightly. This is what occurs in the common golden milk recipes.

Are turmeric smoothies good for weight loss?

While the mango turmeric smoothie does contain anti-inflammatory ingredients geared towards healing your gut lining, it may not be the best for weight loss. Much of this depends on your calorie intake allotments for the day. This smoothie is well-balanced as it contains proteins, healthy fats, and complex carbs. However, it can become pretty calorie-dense depending on your serving size and if you add any toppings.
