Healthy Living Gift Guide
There are a lot of ways to go about being “healthy” and the truth is that the words “in good health” mean something different to all of us. For some, it could mean being able to play with our kids, living longer, having a lot of energy or having a low disease risk. The list goes on- and all answers would be accurate. There’s also a lot of ways to go about improving your health (using turmeric or helping out your liver). But for people, the journey towards a healthier lifestyle is a bit overwhelming.
If you’ve read about my personal journey to health you’ll know that I took it step by step and day by day. There was no big overhaul, no revelation. The path wasn’t linear nor was it crisp. It was all over the place, challenging and confusing. But that’s okay.
The truth is, there’s no one path fits all when it comes to improving your health or well being. And like most goals, getting started is often the hardest part.
When I first started thinking of my health and how to improve it, I began by reading The Eat Clean Diet which was popular at the time. Now-a-days there are oh so many more resources, books and tools to help you change your day to day habits that it can be a bit confusing.
So I wanted to share my personal favorites in hopes they will help you too!
The resources below work for just about any path you’re looking to take when improving your overall health. These items make great gifts for others too who want to start off on the right foot but aren’t sure what they need. If you have a friend looking to get fit, active and healthy, these are some killer ideas! I know I would have LOVED to receive any one of them when I was starting out.
The Oh She Glows Cookbook
To say I’m obsessed with these books is probably an understatement. I’ve been following Angela’s blog for almost five years now and I’ve made just about everything on it!
These recipes are classified as vegan but that doesn’t mean you can’t add in some meat. I love her recipes not only because they’re plant and health based but because they taste freaking awesome.
You won’t be eating salad everyday but real, whole, delicious comfort foods jazzed up for a healthy twist. The first book is amazing but the second one is my favorite!
This is an elaborate gift if you’re purchasing for someone else but oh so worth it! By far the most used apparatus in my kitchen I literally want to kiss it sometimes (okay odd, I know but truly if there was a fire I’d probably try to save it).
The vitamix isn’t just for smoothie freaks, though it works miraculously because it actually makes them smooth and not “chewy”. But it works wonders for healthy desserts, soups and just about everything.
Plus, it comes with a seven year warranty! I’ve had my Vitamix for five years now and it’s not slowing down anytime soon. A client of mine has had his for twelve! It’s a pricey purchase but worth every penny.

This fun gift is perfect for anyone looking to scale back on carbohydrates, boost their veggie intake or rock a gluten free diet. Spiralizers are all the rage right now and rightly so! They put a whole new twist on recipes and give you such a boost in vegetables.
Forks Over Knives Cookbook
This cookbook is full of tasty, plant based recipes (and who doesn’t need more vegetable on their quest for health?). It’s one I really enjoy because most of the recipes are simple and still taste good.
An amazing gift for anyone who wants to increase their workout volume without hitting up the gym. Trx Straps allow you to work your entire body, in a variety of ways, and can be used anywhere (here’s one of my favorite workouts with them!)!
Developed by the Navy Seals to stay fit anywhere, these straps are one of my favorites (I even wrote about them here). I love them because you can do any style of workout with them. They also come with a basic exercise DVD to show you how to do many of the exercises so you don’t feel lost.
It seems so simple but giving water bottles is a great gift idea!
Personally, I love my big BKR the best (the big pink ones!) because it comes in a full liter so I know exactly how much I’m drinking. You can grab one from my favorite retailer.
Many people don’t want to go to the gym because they’re not sure what to do (I know that’s how I felt initially!).
Setting someone up with either custom designed programs or at least a plan, can go a long way.
On my training website I offer custom programs which are geared towards whatever you have to work with (a gym, bodyweight at home, bands etc). Place doesn’t matter, consistency does.
Berkey Water Filter
Purchasing a Berkey is kind of a big step to be honest. And truthfully, I debated about it for months before I made the plunge. Prior to purchasing I read a lot about water quality thanks to Chris Beat Cancer.com and decided it was a worthy investment.
I love my Berkey and I love knowing I’m giving my girls a quality hydration source. Since we drink A LOT of water this is justified to me 😉
This stuff is expensive and it goes SO FAR in boosting your nutrient intake! I grab my favorites from this company here.
Some people will say that this is rude, but truthfully I would love if someone else paid for activities I enjoy!
