A decadent smoothie to give you all the comfort and more! This healthy smoothie not only tastes great but will help relax your body also… and not just from the craving fix. A dairy-free smoothie recipe with a secret weapon. With the weather warming up I am a fanatic about smoothies (well really this chunky monkey smoothie). Healthy smoothies in the summertime are an indulgent way to stay cool. And this indulgent, frozen hot chocolate contains reishi mushrooms to help calm your system while you indulge in real-food ingredients. Don’t want to read? JUMP To The Recipe. Reishi mushrooms are a fungi used in eastern medicine. Like most fungi, it’s been shown to help a lot of areas of health. Like anything, you can easily overdo it on “too much of a good thing”. If you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, I’d definitely advise to avoid medicinal mushrooms. If you have any kind of blood diagnosis (high blood pressure etc) chat wit a doc first! My introduction to any kind of reishi mushroom came from Four Sigmatic. You can read more about my obsession with mushrooms coffee, I originally fell in love with chaga and lions mane. The reishi cacao mix though has been a nice addition to my week. It’s definitely delicious in this paleo smoothie recipe but I personally love it later in the day, just whisked into water with some almond milk. I find that it helps calm my system, my mind, and just prepares me to wind down. I grab a cup about once per week and I look forward to it. You can grab the Reishi blend from Four Sigmatic and use code mamabear to save %10 This healthy smoothie recipe is simple… but its also decadent! It uses the Four Sigmatic Hot Cacao blend as a base to give it not only the cocoa flavor but a boost in nutrients also. I then whipped up some homemade chocolate to drizzle around it and topped it with coconut whip cream. This paleo recipe is great on its own as a midweek indulgence but it’s also a super tasty and speedy one to whip up and share with a friend. And the best part? Now you can enjoy hot chocolate year-round! If you haven’t already, start making your own chocolate sauces and toppings! I’ve been dairy-free for a couple of years now (learn more about going dairy-free and not hating food) and with the benefits of cacao powder it’s still to pay such high prices for pre-made chocolate. All you need to make your own is cacao powder + a sweetener. It’s that easy and that delicious. So, don’t overlook the topping for this healthy smoothie! A tasty, nutrient-dense indulgence! This paleo smoothie is loaded with chocolate flavor and easy to whip up. In a large blender, combine all the ingredients for the hot chocolate and mix until everything is smooth. Use almost all of the chocolate syrup to drizzle it into the glass making sure to get all sides. Pour the frozen hot chocolate. Coconut whip cream for topping * optional but awesome Note: all of these health-boosting ingredients can be purchased through my favorite retailer Well.ca– and the best part is that they offer free shipping! The perfect topping to the frozen hot chocolate! Note: the can of coconut milk must be chilled in the fridge upside down overnight. This allows the milk to harden into a cream you can whip. A simple, real-food based, indulgent smoothie to boost your health and calm your system. This healthy smoothie makes a tasty treat to hoard selfishly or share with a friend ?Frozen Hot Chocolate With Chocolate Syrup

Open the can (upside down) and drain the water. The more water you leave in there the less “whip cream texture” it’ll have.
Scoop out the coconut cream into a bowl and whip it with a handheld mixer. It fluffs up and makes coconut whip cream!
