I’ve been using a form of intermittent fasting for about eight years now and I still love it. It was my mentor who introduced me to this health tool and while my initial goals were minor weight loss (that last ten pounds) the benefits I’ve seen are so much more.

You can learn more about how intermittent fasting works for weight loss and how to get started with it in episode 8 of the podcast. However, know that there are many approaches to using fasting. The 16/8 method is the most popular but there’s no rule that says you need to rock that.

Personally, I fast for 13 ish hours every day with a longer 16-18 hours once per week. It works for me.

Benefits Of Fasting

While intermittent fasting is an amazing tool, I’ve also noticed these other benefits:

  • Better focus
  • Learning what hunger cues are
  • Less bloat/better digestion
  • Snacking less

Especially during the current situation, intermittent fasting has been a staple. It helps control mindless snacking and excess calories.

If you’re unsure about giving it a try- don’t be! There are so many different ways to use fasting. Begin with an overnight fast (12 hours) and take it from there.

Pro-tip: your first few fasts are not comfortable. You’re crabby, unfocused, and not impressed. It takes a little bit for your body to adjust- trust me.

My goal for you this week is to have an open mind. Look into fasting and maybe give your first fast a go. Then, drop me a comment on my IG channel and ask any questions or let me know how it went. I adore chatting fasting so please- reach out!
