Bite into a cooling, creamy, snack with these frozen yogurt bananas! Instead of frozen banana pops, these little treats are in bite-sized form. Perfect to pop into your mouth.
Made with only five ingredients, you can use your favorite toppings to make an easy, kid-approved, summertime snack.
Who says delicious snacks need to be sugar-loaded and unhealthy? As a Certified Nutrition Coach, These frozen yogurt banana pops are naturally sweet and a hit with kids (just like these strawberry lemonade protein popsicles).
And though they're made in just 5 minutes, they do take a while to freeze.
Thus, whip up a big batch the night before a hot day and watch the kiddos stay cool and devour them in the summer sun (hint: these chocolate frozen bananas are a hit too :P)
You'll love these frozen banana pops because they:
- have minimal ingredients
- contain balanced fuel (protein and energy)
- no major processed sugars
- are refreshing on a hot day
- can be topped with everyone's favorites
How To Make Frozen Yogurt Banana Bites
- In a bowl, combine the yogurt, vanilla, and stevia.
- Chop the bananas into thick slices.
- Place the banana slices in batches into the bowl and coat them carefully.
- Place the coated yogurt bananas onto a parchment-lined tray.
- Sprinkle your toppings on top.
- Freeze.
Choosing A Yogurt
The kind of yogurt you choose will alter the flavor of this snack, just like this tropical strawberry protein frozen yogurt.
Plain Greek Yogurt is what was initially used for the recipe. Not only does this reduce unnecessary sugars but it also provides some protein to the snack as well.
However, I have also made them with dairy-free yogurt as well. Specifically with both Daiya Greek Yogurt and Yoso Coconut Yogurt.
Note that the flavor of the yogurt will obviously impact the flavor of the snack. Coconut yogurt does have a bit of a coconut taste to it.
Likewise, different yogurts have different texture:
- Greek yogurt is thicker and will stay on the bananas easier
- Many coconut yogurts are thinner and you may need a spatula o really coat the banana pieces
Option: if you're using coconut yogurt but you want to add a bit of protein into the snack, whisk in a packet of Perfect Supplements Collagen Powder.
These packets are the perfect size for this recipe and collagen powder is odorless and flavorless but provides a few extra nutrients to the snack. Grab the packets and use code mamabear10 to save some money.
Making Frozen Banana Pops Versus Bites
A lot of people make these yogurt-covered bananas into banana pops! Which are most definitely delicious.
However, making these bananas into bites makes it so they can easily be a "pop in your mouth" snack.
If you're worried about messy hands, simply put a box of toothpicks out beside the bites to grab them.
Topping The Frozen Bananas
The best part of this recipe is that you can customize your banana bites with your own favorite toppings! Some great options are;
- crushed nuts (walnuts, pecans etc)
- mini, allergy-friendly chocolate chips
- shredded coconut (toasting it is even better!)
- drizzled with nut butter
Further, you can even make this recipe into a fun "activity" for kids (like at a birthday!). Give everyone some yogurt dipped bananas, lay out different toppings, and have them cover their own.
Then, freeze while they play and take them out to enjoy their own creations!

Frequently Asked Questions About Frozen Banana Pops
So long as the bananas are peeled you can make frozen banana bites with pre-frozen bananas. Bananas are normally soft enough to cut into frozen so all you'd need to do is dip them and get them back into the freezer.
Because the bananas are well, frozen, they do tend to melt. However, we find them a little too frozen right out of the freezer. Thus, to eat them, grab a bowl and let them sit for 3-5 minutes outside to thaw ever so slightly. Then, let the kids at them. The banana bites will stay frozen/in tasty shape for about 10 minutes on a hot day so grab them fast!
If the bananas have melted slightly, don't freak out! You can actually make a banana frozen yogurt recipe! Place the bananas in the freezer, melted, and let them re-freeze. Then, pop them into a high-powered blender and make banana frozen yogurt (no ice cream maker needed!)!
