3 Reasons Why Mamas Need Muscles
If you’ve checked out this blog, you’ll know I love to workout, and more specifically train muscles that improve posture. And as a mama, we need a lot of things to function. It would be nice to have warm meals, hot coffee, showers, sleep. But normally most mamas don’t consider that they need muscles.
But trust me mamas, you need muscles.
Muscles are your friend. And below are three reasons why!
Reason #1 To Carry, Pick Up, And Generally Play With Your Babe
Getting the obvious out of the way. As our wee little babes grow into toddlers and then kids picking them up is hard. They get heavy. And once they get sick, jeez, you can bet your best shoes they will be wanting to snuggle and be carries as much as possible.
And if you’re not currently at your fittest, you may have noticed how uncomfortable it is to pick up your little one and hold them for longer than a minute.
Which is why you need muscle.
Having more muscle means having a bit more strength. And thus, playing, cuddling and generally holding your babes is easier. Plus, you’re probably a bit more body aware and thus when you do hold them you’re holding them properly so as not to cause any back pain (I touch on this more in this post).

Reason #2 Having Muscle Gives Your Body Tighter, Harder, Toned Look
Now to start off, I hate the word “tone”. From a training background, it makes no goddamn sense. But since it is so sought after from females I threw it in.
Having muscle on your frame is what gives you that lean look. The leanness is muscle. Now, I promise you adding muscle to your frame won’t make you bulk up and look like a crazy jacked up body builder. Even if you did take the required supplements to get that way as a mama I doubt you have enough time to train to build like that!
But putting a bit of muscle on your frame will definitely help give your body a leaner look if that’s what you’re into. If you’re not aiming for a lean look then check out the last reason.
Reason #3 Having Muscle Helps You Age Better
I can’t say this enough muscles are awesome. Seriously. They d so much in our bodies. And one of the awesome perks of training to keep and grow your muscles is that it makes aging easier. It means that you won’t lose as much mobility as you age. It means you’ll be able to keep eating the way you want to because your metabolism won’t decline as much. And it means that you’ll continue to be able to do all the things you love, like throw kids up in the air, chase them and wrestle with them, for a long time.
If those aren’t reason enough to have muscle then you’re on the wrong track (sorry!). because I know my number one goal in life is to be able to keep up continue to play and to always always, always, participate in all the crazy things she loves.

Training to maintain and build your muscles isn’t hard (personally I quite enjoy it obviously!), and it feels damn good to do a workout and feel your body getting stronger, but it does take some time and effort. So buck up, get excited and strive to make use of your muscles!
